Al Ba'ath Choir

In a small building in a humble neighborhood in Shafa’amr, young men and women gathered to make an old dream come true.  In 1986, their idea reached fruition and became reality.     The choir chose and began singing old and new songs.  Hopes flourished and this choir became central to the cultural basis of Shafa’amr.  The choir selected songs with deep thoughts and the great music of, among others, Fairuz, Zakaria Ahmad and Sayed Darweesh, whose pieces were adapted for choir.  Their voices bring this classic music to new heights.

It took a long time and much determination and persistence, but the efforts have been fruitful.  The choir is thriving in its own country, as well as in Italy, Austria, Germany and France, where many successful performances were given.  We also experienced a unique performance in which the group sang in unison with the solo in Hissa, a play written and produced by the artist Radi Shehadeh.

During 2008, Ishtaktelak ( I Long for You) was conceived and performed.  The piece followed Fairuz's musical journey, and was successful and highly esteemed.

The choir looks forward to other performances for an enthusiastic public demanding original and modern releases.
